ADULT PROGRAMS Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient for Eating Disorder Recovery

Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, ARFID, Obesity and Co-occurring Issues

It's estimated that 30 million Americans have struggled with an eating disorder at some point over their lifetime. Eating Disorders affect all genders and ages, and are often complicated by co-occurring issues such as anxiety, depression, and unresolved trauma. Eating Disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental health disorder, and they are treatable. Patients who receive and complete eating disorder treatment can recover or improve significantly, and return to a healthy lifestyle.

If your life is disrupted by an eating disorder and you are experiencing symptoms like binging, purging, restricting or avoiding food, we are here to help. The focus of our program is to help each person build a healthy relationship with food while discovering the underlying or root causes of disordered eating, and learning coping techniques and strategies to remain in recovery.

Recovery from an eating disorder is possible and our programs will give you the support needed to begin that journey. Our skilled team of therapists and dietitians will be with you each step along this journey and guide you to find solutions that work.

Program Components & Details

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers up to 10 hours of services each week. Services include group therapy, individual sessions with a therapist and dietitian. Additionally, patients diagnosed with Binge Eating disorder work closely with our functional fitness trainer.

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers up to 30 hours of services each week and provides a more structured treatment environment for those who can benefit from a highly focused program. Our PHP program is customized for each patient to address both their disordered eating and co-occurring issues, mood disorders and trauma.

The initial length of stay is a minimum of 8 weeks but varies based on each person’s progress in the program. There are three levels of care offered which include PHP, IOP, and Outpatient.  Outpatient sessions are available to those patients who have completed PHP and IOP, and are working with their individual therapist to transition to care within the community.

Group Therapy

Explores the life issues that are interconnected to disordered eating and helps each patient understand the dynamic relationship between the two. Group therapy provides a safe and nurturing place for patients to find commonalities with others dealing with disordered eating, and gain support from those who share similar experiences.

Each group has a holistic focus combining the benefits of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, DBT, and energy psychology techniques to address the multilayered symptoms associated with eating disorders. Each group consists of meal support, education, skill development, group process, emotional regulation skills, body image restoration, and stress management techniques.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy provides a private one-to-one experience where patients can work more intensely on treatment goals, and address those issues that seem too sensitive to initially share in the group. During individual therapy, patients have an opportunity to experience unconditional care and guidance from a therapist skilled in the recovery process.

Nutritional Support

A cornerstone of the program is nutritional support which includes meal support, nutritional education, mindful eating skills, and leaning the intricate role that nutrition has on mind/body health. Patients meet with the dietitian for an initial assessment to address food concerns and develop a meal plan that supports the recovery process. Regular sessions with the dietitian are scheduled throughout one’s stay in the program to allow each patient time to discuss their challenges with food and look for solutions that work.

During the program, patients participate in nutrition outings to learn grocery shopping, healthy dining out, and body image exercises.
